This design is very moody but the warm tones of wood used also make it calming. I think that every bedroom should make you feel serene when you first walk in, after all, it’s the place you go when you need a break from a long and stressful day. Because of this reason I like to make sure a bedroom design is beautiful and is a place where you can go and recharge. Everyone needs a happy place, right?
The Inspiration
Yet again, a small piece of a design makes a big impact. This teak wall decor from France and Son instantly caught my eye. It is made out of solid natural teak and I love that it adds a natural element to the space. The one thing I love about decor that is natural like this piece is that they vary in shape. Although many others may have this piece hanging on their walls, its uniqueness makes it feel like it was just made for you.
The Color Palette
For this design, I decided to keep the color palette simple. Although it looks like black and brown colors are the only colors in this space, I used different kinds of wood so there would be multiple shades of brown in this design. The different woods add dimension to his space, keeping it from looking monochrome. The multiple shades of wood used flow flawlessly together. I did the same thing with the color black in this design. Yes, black is black and there aren’t many shades of black but using different finishes of this color adds character to the space.
The Furniture and Decor
Because there are many pieces in this space that are finished in their natural wood colors, I decided to add some dimension to this space and include a black veneer oak bed. I wanted to keep the “theme” of wood but wanted to stay away from making this room look too rustic. One of my favorite things to use in a bedroom is pendants instead of lamps on nightstands. I opt for pendants because it makes the space look high-end while freeing up space on your nightstand. Using pendants, you are also able to dim them, as opposed to lamps. Overall just looks better! I love the pendants I used from Arhaus. The deformed glass globes are unique and beautiful.
I wanted to add a tiny pop of color and I did this by placing faux air plants in a black decorative bowl. This makes the space look more appealing compared to using just two colors. Even just a subtle pop of color can take a design from meh to OMG!
With all of the other decor in this space, I used objects that were similar colors rather than the exact colors. I chose this route because I didn’t want the space to look matchy-matchy, I wanted more dimension.
