This living room design is my favorite that I have created for many reasons. All of the furniture colors, finishes, and styles flow perfectly together. It’s been a while since I wrote a blog post explaining my thought process and why I chose certain things but I couldn’t help myself with this one!
The Inspiration
The rug instantly inspired me in this design which is what everything in the space is tied to. The Loloi II Layla Rug has rich red, orange, brown, and green colors. Although this rug has multiple colors, finding furniture and accents that compliment it was easy.
The Color Palette
For the color palette of this design I pulled colors from the rug and chose colors that complimented those in the rug. I included both gold and silver decor the this design to add dimension to the space.
The Furniture and Decor
Because there is so much going on with the rug, I decided to keep the furniture in this space simple with the exception of the burl wood coffee table by ZGallerie. The coffee table makes the rug stand out even more and the rug makes it stand out, even though there is a lot going on with it. The pattern of the rug and the burl coffee table don’t clash instead, they complement each other perfectly.
My favorite bench of all is the Keane Bench from Burke Decor. I’ve used this gorgeous reclaimed elm bench with chunky arched legs in many designs in the past and it was the perfect addition to this design. This bench brings modernity to the traditional design of the Loloi rug.
The Judy Bust from CB2 is one of my all time favorite decorative accents. I love that this bust is the perfect mixture of modern and vintage. This vintage designed bust has a sleep black color with a modern matte finish.
For the section of the design near the window I wanted to pull in colors from the living room area so that he two spaces flow together. I chose to go with the Napa Velvet Lounge Chair from Poly and Bark because it was the perfect color match for the green in the rug and the velvete upholstery bring sophistication to the space.
The colors, textures, and decor is what makes this design one of my favorites.
Until next time!
