Tapestries add a certain charm to a room. I love that they’re versatile and can be mixed into interior design styles. Tapestries are a great investment because they’ll never go out of style and their worth appreciates with time. When I say tapestries you might be thinking Aztec like designs that were soaring in popularity in 2010s but I’m talking about grand scale, vintage, French, one-of-a-kind pieces.
I’ll be sharing everything tapestries from how to style, where to find tapestries, some of my favorites and the best alternative to tapestries if you can’t afford one.
How to Style Tapestries
If you have a large-scale, extravagant piece that commands the attention of the room it deserves its own place on the wall. The worst thing you can do to art of this nature is steal its thunder. Tapestries are usually made with thick, durable thread but it that doesn’t mean that they don’t age. If you have a piece that’s falling apart I would suggest to frame it in order to preserve their beauty.
Where to Find Tapestries
You can find almost anything on Facebook Marketplace and that includes tapestries. If you live in an area where FB Marketplace is lacking, change your area. If you find something that’s hours away you can ask the seller to ship and offer to cover the cost of packing and shipping.
Another great outlet is vintage stores. The only problem you might run into with buying from vintage stores is that it may be marked up a lot more than it’s worth. Nevertheless, it’s a great source!
Etsy is another great source for sourcing tapestries along with anything else that’s vintage.
