Whether you’re furnishing from the ground up or replacing very loved furniture there are certain pieces that are worth the investment. Knowing which pieces to put more money towards can be difficult so I am sharing five pieces that I recommend investing in.
Sofa
The sofa is the most used piece of furniture in the home and one of the first to be purchased which is why it’s at the top of my list. With it being the most used, it’s clear to say that investing in a quality sofa is important. You may be thinking, “why would I buy a $2,000 sofa when I can find a $1,000 sofa that looks the same?”, I’m here to remind you that aesthetic doesn’t equal quality, durability, or comfort.
Rugs
When deciding to place a rug in a particular room it’s important to consider how that room is going to be used. For a room with high foot traffic, purchasing a rug that’s durable is important. Consider investing more in rugs that will be going in the foyer, living room, or any hallways on the first floor.
Linens
Investing in high quality linens is just as important for comfort as it is for overall aesthetic. The last thing anyone wants is to finish their shower or bath and dry off with a big piece of sandpaper. Not only will high quality linens add to every day comfort, they will also make your bathroom look more elevated. Bed linens are just as important for quality of sleep and quest experience. They will also last longer!
Lighting
Lighting has the power to make or break the overall feel of your home. The wrong lighting fixture can cheapen the look of a room or give off inappropriate lighting, by this I mean, dim lighting in a room that requires a lot of light and vise versa. Splurging on a beautiful light fixture is all you need elevate your home. Don’t ruin the ambiance of your home with terrible lighting fixtures.
Cabinets, Hutches, and All Things Storage
I don’t just mean kitchen cabinets, but storage cabinets as well. Investing in beautiful cabinets to store anything from China to kids toys. Use hutches to display all of your beautiful decor that you don’t want to get touched. Cabinets and hutches bring personality to any room that they’re in.
