I have always loved the idea of minimalism because it shows that you don’t need to go above and beyond to make your home look amazing. In fact, going for a minimalistic approach will make your home look more high-end and even better, not cluttered.
The Inspiration
No one thing inspired this design, I was looking to do something simple but beautiful at the same time. The color palette of this design was inspired by the Tyler Armchair as they were all picked to compliment the colors of this chair.
The Color Palette
The color palette for this design is as simple as the design itself! I went for deep greens, warm neutrals and browns, and “lighter” blacks.
The Furniture and Décor
This Tyler Armchair from Burke Decor is one of my favorites. I love the deep olive color and the warmth of the wood legs. The angular frame of this chair is gorgeous along with the velvet material of the upholstery.
The Tyler Armchair pairs perfectly with the warm color of the vase from the Artisan Vase Collection at Pottery Barn. I love the contrast between these two warm colored products and the charcoal storage cabinet.
Annie Charcoal Storage Cabinet
I wanted to stay within the theme of curved furniture as the armchair, vase and storage cabinet are curved and took that a step forward and went with a sophisticated formed side table that the vase and stems and sitting on. This side table’s shape immediately caught my eye. The multiple cylinders that sit in a circle giving this piece a circle base was the perfect addition to this design.
Usually when I start a design from scratch I like to pick the rug first and then go from there. This time I did things differently only because I wanted to use the Tyler Armchair. I showed this rug to a client of mine who was looking for something similar and I knew I needed to used this rug in a future design. It works so well in this space because it compliments the color of the chair and storage unit while also complimenting the colors of the side table, vase and artwork. It was the perfect addition to this space. I like that it’s clean lines add contracts to all of the curves in this space and the little circles in the design of the rug match the rest of the space.
