One of my favorite color combinations in interior design is light wood and light blue. This color combination makes a space look and feel beautiful and serene.
The Inspiration
It all started with this rug from Anthropologie. My jaw actually dropped when I saw this rug, not to be dramatic. I absolutely love the design and colors! The design is very unique, beautiful, and just what I was looking for. I haven’t used blues in my designs in some time, and this rug made it easy.
The Color Palette
The colors in this design are those that were pulled from the rug. The different shades of blue in the furniture and decorative accents match the shades in the rug. I also included a darker color wood in the color palette to make the design stand out more.
The Furniture and Décor
After finding the rug I knew I wanted this bed from Crate and Barrel to be a part of the design. I know the Japandi feel of the rug but most importantly, the color of the wood is what helped me make the decision to include it.
Batten White Oak Plinth-Base Bed and Panels
For the nightstands and accent table, I used items of darker wood because I wanted to keep these pieces from matching the bed so that they would stand out more.
Gia Charcoal Cherry Nightstand
Because the rug has such a unique design, I decided to carry that over to another piece which is why I went with this accent chair from Wisteria. The design on the wood is so beautiful and along with the color of the upholstery, it compliments the rug perfectly.
For the decorative accents, as mentioned before, I pulled colors from the rug to make the space look uniform but not matchy-matchy as I used various shades of blue that you see in the rug
