One thing I love doing is mixing more modern pieces with vintage or traditional pieces. Another thing I love is pairing black with cane furniture. The color of the cane against black is so beautiful and adds character to a room, not to mention texture.
The Inspiration
This design all started with the Dolores Console Table from Pottery Barn. I have been seeing this product everywhere and it’s not surprising because this piece is gorgeous. I love the back against the natural cane doors with iron knobs. Love to see this used as a media console, buffet in a dining room as well as a console table.
The Color Palette
I love the simple color palette of this design. It makes the design timeless but also feels serene because of the fact that there is not much going on in this space. The gold accents give this space some color and keeps it from being too matchy-matchy. It also adds dimension to this simple palette.
The Furniture and Décor
Usually, when I start a design from scratch I like to start with at least one main piece of furniture and then a rug so I can pull colors from it for other furniture pieces and accents. Because of the fact that I wanted this space to be more simple, I waited and picked the rug last. I went with this area rug from Amber Lewis x Loloi because it complemented the space so well and added a bit of color but still kept it simple.
From the start, I knew that I wanted to add more vintage/traditional pieces to this design which is why I chose some of the accents that I did. One thing I love more than most things are art prints, especially ones from North Prints and I’m currently obsessed with this one. This beautiful print in this jaw-dropping frame needed to be a part of this design, it wouldn’t be complete without them. I’ve been currently obsessed with these taper candle sconces (amongst many other things). Not only are they out-of-this-world beautiful but they add that traditional feel I was going for.
I love all of these vintage and gold pieces with the cane furniture and I especially love the Antonia Chair. This chair matches well with the console table and the fact that it is made of came made it even more perfect. The Pembroke Plantation Recycled Pine Distressed Grey Turned Leg Round Cocktail
Table (that’s a mouth full) was the perfect addition to this design. I love the more traditional look paired with the accent chairs and console table, which are more modern, and tied the whole space together.
The rest of the items in this design will be linked at the bottom of the post.
Until next time!
